Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel continues the live-action and CGI hybrid franchise, returning to the chipmunk brothers Alvin, Simon, and Theodore as their music-business success forces them to enroll in the local high school to continue their education, where they encounter the all-female chipette trio Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor and the romantic and competitive complications that follow. With their adopted father Dave Seville injured and out of commission, his cousin Toby takes over chipmunk-rearing duties for the duration of the film. The film plays as a feature-length live-action and CGI hybrid family comedy.
