Billy the Cat is the late-90s European animated series adapted from the Belgian comic about an arrogant young boy who is magically turned into a cat for a year as a lesson in empathy, forced to navigate the world from a much smaller, much more vulnerable angle. The show first aired across Canal+, France 3, BBC One, and ZDF from 1996 into 1998, with episodes that follow Billy through encounters with rival cats, kindly humans, mice, dogs, and the slow rebuilding of his sense of how to be a person.
