Buford and the Galloping Ghost rolled onto NBC at the tail end of the 1970s, a Saturday-morning curiosity that paired two short-form mystery cartoons under one banner. The Buford Files starred a sleepy bloodhound with a slow drawl and a sharp nose for trouble, helping a pair of teenage friends untangle Southern-fried mysteries across swamps, sleepy towns, and dusty backroads.
