Cars 3 continues the Disney Pixar franchise, returning to the now veteran race-car Lightning McQueen who finds himself outmatched by a new generation of high-tech rookie racers led by the perpetually competitive Jackson Storm and forced to confront the question of whether his career is winding to a close. With the help of his perpetually optimistic trainer Cruz Ramirez and his mentor's old training partner, Lightning must figure out who he is going to be when his racing days inevitably end. The film plays as a feature-length CGI animated adventure entry, with each act stacking the central legacy stakes against the franchise's signature racing-action storytelling.
