Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics is a Japanese-produced anthology of European folktales that brought 47 fairy tales to American screens through Nickelodeon. Each episode is its own short film, drawn from the Brothers Grimm and adjacent folk traditions, with the unhurried storytelling that defined a particular school of Japanese children's animation. A green-haired pixie introduces each tale and steps aside, letting the world of each story stand alone. The result is a cartoon that feels closer to a bedtime book than a Saturday morning broadcast.
