Jim Button is the long-running German puppet-and-animated series adapted from Michael Ende's beloved Jim Button novels, in which the small island-dwelling boy Jim Button and his locomotive-driver friend Lukas embark on cross-continental adventures aboard their working steam locomotive Emma to find Jim's birth family and rescue a princess from a dragon. The show ran across Augsburger Puppenkiste and ZDF from 1974 onward, with later 1999-2000 reproductions extending the franchise across multiple decades.
