Lapitch the Little Shoemaker is the late-1990s Croatian-French co-produced animated series adapted from Ivana Brlic-Mazuranic's classic Croatian children's novel, in which the small-but-determined apprentice shoemaker Lapitch sets out across a stylized European countryside to find his own way after escaping his mistreating master, accompanied by his loyal dog Bundash and a circle of friends including the parrot Brewster and the gentle Yanna. The show ran across HRT 1, Canal J, RAI, TV3, YTV, ITV, ABC, and Treehouse TV from 1997 into 1998, with 26 episodes that adapt the source novel's broader storyworld.
