Moral Orel is the Adult Swim stop-motion animated series that satirized small-town American religion, suburban hypocrisy, and the gap between earnest faith and the people who claim it. The show ran on Adult Swim across three seasons starting in 2005, with a 43-episode run that began as a sharp comedy about a relentlessly pious boy named Orel and his fundamentalist hometown of Moralton, then deepened across the seasons into one of adult animation's most genuinely tragic series. The stop-motion craft and the deadpan voice work give the show a distinctive register that no traditional animation pipeline could have produced.
