Phantom Boy follows the young eleven-year-old Leo, a boy in a contemporary New York hospital who has discovered that his serious illness has given him the unexpected ability to leave his body and travel through the city as an invisible ghostly presence. He uses this newly discovered ability to help a wheelchair-using police detective named Alex investigate a master criminal who is threatening the wider city, with their unlikely partnership giving Leo purpose during his hospital stay.
