Static Shock follows fourteen-year-old Virgil Hawkins, a Dakota City teenager caught in the middle of a chemical-spill incident that gives him electromagnetic powers along with hundreds of other kids in his neighborhood, all of whom must navigate suddenly enhanced abilities while still attending high school and managing the everyday social politics of their grade. Virgil takes on the costumed identity of Static and works alongside his best friend Richie to keep Dakota safe from the resulting wave of metahuman threats. The show plays as a 52-episode animated series, with each story balancing teen-life subplots with proper superhero combat.
