The Banana Splits Adventure Hour is the late-1960s NBC variety show that fused live-action costumed comedy with animated adventure segments into one of the strangest hours of children's programming ever broadcast. The four costumed band members (Fleegle the dog, Bingo the orangutan, Drooper the lion, and Snorky the elephant) hosted the show as a fictional rock group, performing the unforgettable "Tra La La Song" and running through slapstick segments between cartoons. The animated portions featured a rotating set of serials that added a second layer of entertainment to every episode.
