The Comic Strip arrived in 1987 as a syndicated half-hour anthology that bundled four short animated series under one banner, a packaged-cartoon block in the tradition of mid-1980s action-and-comedy programming for after-school audiences. Each half-hour rotated short episodes from its four shows, giving young viewers a buffet of formats: a karate-fighting feline crime drama, a hip-hop frog crew running street adventures, a tiny-monster comedy, and a team of shark warriors patrolling an aquatic frontier.
