The Pirates of Dark Water follows young Prince Ren of the planet Mer as he sets out to gather the thirteen Treasures of Rule, mystical artifacts that hold the only power capable of stopping the spreading Dark Water that is consuming his world's seas. He sails alongside the rogue pirate Ioz, the wild-spirited ecomancer Tula, and the simian creature Niddler, and each episode of his quest brings the crew into conflict with the treacherous pirate lord Bloth and his ship the Maelstrom. The show plays as a 21-episode animated adventure series, with each story stacking sea-fantasy worldbuilding against the central treasure-hunt arc.
