The Smoggies aired on CBC Television, Teletoon, and Channel 5 across the back half of the 1980s and into the early 1990s, a Canadian-led animated series built around an environmental-comedy premise. The premise placed the Suntot family of friendly, sea-loving creatures on Coral Island in opposition to the Smoggies, a band of incompetent treasure-hunting polluters whose schemes constantly threatened the island's ecosystem. Each episode delivered a self-contained story built around the heroes protecting the natural world from the bumbling antagonists.
